Officials with PennDOT announced that more than $49.5 million in investment funding was dispersed from the federal Transportation Alternatives Set-Aside (TASA) to 55 projects across the state on Thursday, and one of those projects is in Indiana County.
Indiana County Commissioners received $578,672 for the rehabilitation of the Kintersburg Covered Bridge in Marion Center, which will address significant deterioration of timbers and rods. Wear and tear has led to displacement of the bridge structure and it has impacted the safety and stability of the bridge.
TASA projects are funded at 100 percent of the construction cost, including construction inspection, and are not grant funds. No applicant match is required, and project sponsors must pay for project design, pre-construction permits, clearances, etc.
The last time Indiana County received TASA funds was in 2018.
