Ben Roethlisberger said yesterday he needs to play better overall, and he especially needs to get off to a better start in his games. Big Ben told reporters yesterday that he’s always been a slow starter but that needs to change. The Steelers are 1-2 after consecutive losses to the Raiders and Bengals at Heinz Field, and now they are headed to Green Bay.
Roethlisberger says he is a great admirer of Packers QB Aaron Rodgers.
Big Ben says the Steelers offense has set itself back by making mistakes that put them in a hole, often playing “behind the sticks” in negative territory.
Roethlisberger missed practice yesterday, which is customary for him on Wednesdays. He was one of four players sidelined and is on the Steelers’ injury list with a sore left pectoral muscle. JuJu Smith-Schuster also sat out yesterday, along with tackle Chuks Okorafor and defensive tackle Carlos Davis.
Linebackers TJ Watt and Alex Highsmith, wide receiver Diontae Johnson, and backup offensive guard Rashaad Coward were also limited.
Tackle Zach Banner returned to practice as a full participant. He missed the first three games this season as he continued to recover from knee surgery
