Marion Center’s girls cross country team won its 75th consecutive regular season Heritage Conference meet yesterday, defeating Penns Manor and West Shamokin. The streak dates back to 2010. The Stingers’ boys team also won, giving them a 45-meet Heritage Conference winning streak.
Lydia Miller led the way for the Stingers’ girls, running a 21:44 in the 5K race. Marion center had four of the top five finishers and seven of the top nine. Miller was followed by teammates Reagan Ryen and Lilly Ryer, Penns Manor’s Alaina Grandin, and Marion Center’s Mikayla Gatskie rounding out the top five.
In the boys meet, it was a race to the finish line for Marion Center’s Tim Barrett, who nipped teammate Dillon Green by one second, at 19:01. Penns Manor’s Cole Jarvie was third, followed by Marion Center’s JJ Ferraro and Julian Sandaal.
