It took seven games, but the Penguins finally clinched their second-round Stanley Cup playoff series with a 2-0 win over the Washington Capitals Wednesday night.
Bryan Rust and Patric Hornqvist scored the goals for the Penguins in the second and third periods, respectively.
Marc-Andre Fleury made 29 saves.
Pittsburgh lost Games 3, 5 and 6. The defending Stanley Cup champion will play the Ottawa Senators in the conference final. Game 1 is at Pittsburgh on Saturday.
