The Pirates opened their final homestand of the season with a win over the Cubs last night.

Bryan Reynolds was 3-for-4 with a double for the Bucs last night. Manager Derek Shelton says Reynolds is an inspiration to his teammates.
Mitch Keller had a frustrating night on the mound for the Pirates. Given a 3-0 lead after Moran’s first inning homer, Keller struggled with control again, particularly in the strike zone. Shelton says the Cubs hitters sat back and waited for their pitch against Keller, who gave up nine hits and six earned runs in just four innings.
Colin Moran had a big night for the Pirates. He’s been plagued by injuries this season and says he just wants to finish strong.
The Pirates activated catcher Jacob Stallings and infielder/outfielder Michael Chavis from the injured list prior to the game. Stallings was 2-for-4 and Chavis had a hit in his lone at-bat.
Moran says Stallings is a true pro.
Catcher Taylor Davis was optioned back to Indianapolis and pitcher Connor Overton was placed on the ten-day injured list with a right shoulder strain, thus ending his season.
Roansy Contreras, who was a sensation at Altoona at the start of the year before being injured, will make his Major League debut for the Bucs against Chicago ace Kyle Hendricks, who is 14-7 with a 4.81 ERA. Airtime will be 6:10 on WCCS. Contreras was 3-2 with a 2.65 ERA with the Curve and made one appearance with Indianapolis last week , allowing a run on four hits with a walk and six strikeouts over four innings.
