The Penguins dropped their preseason opener to Columbus last night, 3-0. Goaltender Tristan Jarry played about half of the game, getting replaced by Filip Lindberg with 11:55 left to play in the second period. Jarry stopped eight of nine shots. Lindberg had twelve saves on thirteen shots. The other Blue Jackets’ goal was an empty-netter.
Penguins defenseman Cam Lee, who is one of their top prospects, left the game after getting hit by a puck late in the third period, but coach Mike Sullivan said Lee is fine.
The Pens will play at Buffalo on Friday.
Forward Zach Aston-Reese has tested positive for covid-19 and is in league protocol. Sullivan said the team is following all of the regulations and they are keeping their fingers crossed that it doesn’t spread. Aston-Reese is the first Penguin since the start of the pandemic to test positive.
