Pitt coach Pat Narduzzi said yesterday that “the preseason is over”, as the Panthers prepare for a trip to Atlanta to play their ACC opener against Georgia Tech.
The “Ramblin’ Wreck” upset then-number 22 North Carolina last Saturday, 45-22, and Narduzzi is looking forward to a battle up front, where his revamped offensive line faces an aggressive defense.
Narduzzi says he anticipates that Georgia Tech will study the run-pass option that Western Michigan used so effectively against Pitt, and the Panthers will have to defend it.
Narduzzi is also looking forward to renewing his acquaintance with Yellow Jackets’ coach Geoff Collins, after the two had an awkward moment after last year’s Pitt victory. Collins’ post-game handshake wasn’t exactly cordial – to say the least – but Narduzzi said the two made up over the summer, and Collins apologized.
