The deadline is fast approaching for early registration for a one-time food distribution program Homer City Borough and Center Township.
On October 9th from 1-4 PM, food distribution centers will be set up at fire halls in Homer City, Aultman and Coral-Graceton along with Our Lady of the Assumption Parish in Lucernemines. The food distribution is for low to moderate income people. Center Township Supervisor Jim Gatskie talked about some of the income limitations that are in place.
The food distribution is funded through the CDBG-CV funding in March of 2021, to provide money to municipalities to cover costs related to Coronavirus. Luann Zack of the County Office of Planning and Development said that these funds have some strict rules attached as to how the money can be spent.
1000 boxes of food are available for distribution. Pre-registration will end September 30th. To register, call ICCAP at 724-463-7440. You can also call the Center Township Office at 724-479-2688. You can also register the day of the distribution, but you are asked to register only at the distribution point closest to you.
