The Priates skid continued with their second straight loss to the Philadelphia Phillies 8-6
The Pirates were leading 4-1 when Philadelphia went on a five-inning scoring run. Philadelphia was in the lead 5-4 in the top of the seventh when Wilmer Difo hit a two-run homer to right field to take a 6-5 lead, but Philly’s Didi Gregorius hit a three run shot of his own to right-center field to give the Phillies the win.
Sam Howard left after one inning and it was up to the bullpen once again to take the brunt of the workload. Miguel Yajure had the bulk of the work, going 3 and 2/3rds innings, allowing three runs on five hits, two homers, two walks and striking out two. Nick Mears was credited with a blown save, Chasen Shreve took the loss in relief.
The two teams play again this afternoon.
