The Penguins were without Sidney Crosby (concussion) for Game 4 of their second round series with the Washington Capitals, but the Pens prevailed anyway, 3-2, Wednesday night at PPG Paints Arena.
The Pens took a 3-1 lead in the series and can clinch Saturday night at Washington.
Pittsburgh took a 2-0 lead on a goal by Patric Hornqvist in the first period and another by Jake Guentzel in second period.
Washington tied the game at 2-2, but the Pens took the lead for good on a power-play goal by Justin Schultz at the 11:24 mark of the second period.
Marc Andre-Fleury stopped 29 of 31 shots.
Crosby is to be re-evaluated later this week to determine his availability for Saturday’s Game 5.
