Gas prices across the nation and the state continue to go up, on average.
The current national average is $3.19 a gallon, which represents a two-cent increase over last week at this time. The increase is being blamed on the recent impacts of Hurricanes Ida and Nicholas in the gulf coast region. The U.S. Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement say 30 percent of crude oil production in the Gulf of Mexico remains shut down for now.
Pennsylvania’s average is now at $3.33 a gallon, up four cents from last week at this time and five cents from last month. Gas prices last year at this time were at $2.48 a gallon.
Indiana County’s average is now $3.35 a gallon, slightly higher than the state average. That ties it with Cambria and Jefferson Counties. Armstrong and Clearfield counties have $3.33 a gallon averages while Westmoreland County has a $3.34 a gallon average.
As of this morning, Gasbuddy.com reports that in Indiana Borough, White Township, Blairsville and Shelocta, gas prices are currently at the county-wide average of $3.35. In Clymer, gas prices are at $3.39 a gallon, while prices in Homer City are at $3.45 a gallon.
