Those expecting streaming coverage of tonight’s game between Homer-Center and West Shamokin will be disappointed as Renda Media has been blocked from providing streaming coverage.
The decision came down this morning as West Shamokin district officials were notified from their streaming provider, NFHS, that Your Hometown Station is not allowed to stream tonight’s game due to an exclusive agreement NFHS has with the school. Renda Media has been providing the streams for free, but NFHS is a pay-to-view service.
Renda Media and Digital Vice President Mark Bertig was quick to point out that it was not the fault of the West Shamokin administration.
This sort of activity is the focus of legislation that is being crafted by State Representative Jim Struzzi to allow local media groups to compete for the right to stream sports online.
As far as tonight’s game goes, the only way you’ll be able to follow along with the game is to listen on WCCS 101.1 FM and AM 1160 and on the TribLive High School Sports Network at wccsradio.com
