Iván Nova pitched his fifth complete game in 16 starts with the Pittsburgh Pirates, shutting out the Miami Marlins, 4-0, Saturday night in Miami.
It was his first shutout since joining the Pirates last season. Nova struck out seven batters and walked none. He gave up just three hits.
Gregory Polanco hit two doubles. John Jaso hit a solo home run in the ninth inning, his first of the season, and drove in two runs.
The Pirates scored two runs in the sixth inning. They go for the three-game sweep Sunday at 1:10 p.m. on AM 1160 WCCS and 101.1 FM.
