At the IUP Council of Trustees meeting on Thursday, IUP President Dr. Michael Driscoll said that the university was going to fall short of their enrollment projections.
The numbers for fall enrollment will be finalized next week, but Driscoll said that he doesn’t expect much of a change between now and September 13th when enrollment numbers will freeze. He said that while the university is ahead in new transfers, re-enrolled and dual enrollment students, they are slightly behind in first year students and graduate students. He also praised the recent retention efforts like the Crimson Scholars Circle and talked about one creative solution to the retention problem.
In other business, the council of trustees approved re-naming several departments to fall in line with the IUP NextGen department mergers. The board also approved a resolution of appreciation for outgoing provost and vice president of academic affairs Dr. Timothy Moerland.
