Indiana County District Attorney Bob Manzi says an inmate at SCI Pine Grove pleaded guilty yesterday to two counts of aggravated assault on corrections officers, both second-degree felonies. 57-year-old David Tyrone Henry entered his pleas after a jury was selected for his trial.
Manzi says that on August 11th last year, Henry threw scalding hot liquid at the officers, causing minor burns to one of them. At the time, the officers were preparing to remove materials from his cell that he was not permitted to have.
Henry has an extensive criminal history going back to the 1980s, including a 1999 case in which he pleaded guilty to attempted criminal homicide and assault by a criminal. He will be sentenced on November 22nd.
