The wait is over and the Altoona Curve finally get to play a game tonight, weather permitting in Akron, Ohio. The Curve will take the field against the Rubber Ducks and new manager Robby Hammock is looking forward to it.
Hammock says the Pirates have loaded the Curve roster with a lot of talent.
Many of the players Hammock will manage are guys he had last year when he managed at Greensboro, and he likes the familiarity he has with the group. But, he says, they have a lot of work to do.
Hammock has some talented arms on his pitching staff, including lefthander Anthony Solometo and righties Braxton Ashcraft and tonight’s starter, Bubba Chandler. He says Chandler has settled in as a full-time pitcher after starting his career pitching and playing shortstop.
After three games in Akron this weekend, the Curve come home to PNG Field to host Harrisburg for a six-game series starting on Tuesday.
