After last night’s NHL games, the Penguins’ standing in the NHL Eastern Conference playoff race is unchanged. Of the teams they are contending with for the final Wild Card slot, only the New Jersey Devils played, and they were beaten by the New York Rangers, 4-3 in a fight-filled game which started with a five-on-five brawl before the opening faceoff.
The Pens lead the Devils by three points. They are three points behind the Washington Capitals for the second Wild Card, and they play the Caps tonight in Washington. Both teams are also still contending for the third place slot in the Metro Division, which would also secure them a playoff position.
After Tuesday’s game in New Jersey, coach Mike Sullivan talked about the effort his players have given in going 4-0-1 in their last five games.
The Capitals have lost their last three games. Tonight’s game faces off shortly after 7 o’clock. It’s a 6 o’clock airtime on 92.5 FM U92.
