After only one season of college basketball, Pitt guard Bub Carrington is turning pro. The 6-5 freshman announced his decision yesterday at a news conference with his coach, Jeff Capel.
Carrington averaged 13.8 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 4.1 assists per game and shot 41.2 percent from the field, 32.2 percent on three-pointers. He says he’s ready to step up to the NBA.
Coach Jeff Capel praised Carrington’s poise and ability to handle the pressure of big-time basketball.
Since the end of the season, Capel has lost center Federiko Federiko and forward William Jeffress, who are both transferring, and now Carrington.
The last Pitt player to leave early for the NBA was Justin Champagnie, who left in 2021. Projected as a first round pick, he instead went undrafted and has bounced back and forth between the NBA and the G-League. After playing for the Raptors, Celtics, and Heat organizations, he is now with the Washington Wizards.
