Authorities are investigating a theft that happened in West Wheatfield Township on Friday. State police say that they were dispatched at 12:24 PM to a home on Mulligan Hill Road near New Florence in West Wheatfield Township, where someone stole a Samsung 9 Note cell phone and a Verizon Wireless “Jet Pack”. The total value of the stolen goods is $255. If you have any information, you are asked to call police at 724-357-1960.
Identity thieves have struck again with a scheme defrauding an individual and the state’s unemployment compensation system. State police say on August 24th, a 53-year-old woman from Shelocta received word that a fraudulent unemployment claim was made using her identity. Police were not able to turn up any solvability factors in their investigation.
An Indiana woman could face DUI charges after an incident last Sunday in Indiana Borough. State police say that around 5:15 AM on August 22nd, 30-year-old Lisa Gorski was pulled over after several motor vehicle code violations. Police found her under the influence of alcohol at the time. She was taken into custody on suspicion of DUI and charges against her are pending the results of a blood test.
No one was hurt in a vehicle crash on August 15th in Burrell Township. State police say the crash was reported at 1:42 PM on Club Lane near Resort Plaza Drive. Sandra Caparino of New Florence was trying to turn left from Resort Plaza Drive onto Club Lane and did not yield the right of way to a vehicle driven by Brenda Henry of Blairsville. As a result, the tow hook on Capriano’s Jeep got stuck in the door of Henry’s vehicle.
