An Indiana County fire company was the recipient of some canned water from a national beer company.
The Coal Run/McIntyre Fire Department announced on their Facebook page that they recently were honored by the 2021 Anheuser-Busch Emergency Drinking Water For Wildland Firefighters program in conjunction with the National Volunteer Fire Council. As part of their award, the fire department received two pallets of canned water from Anheuser-Busch.
The company cans water at two of their brewery locations as part of their emergency preparedness plans once a year, with many of those cans going to disaster areas where potable water is not readily available. In 2019, the company teamed up with the National Volunteer Fire Council to support firefighters that take on wildfires and deliver water to deserving departments with donations of canned water.
Coal Run/McIntyre fire officials say they will share the water with nine other local fire departments they work closely with in the immediate area. They said the water is essential to Volunteer Fire Departments, as during many calls, they are out for long hours and need to rehydrate to keep everyone safe.
