The Pirates are now 0-for-10 when they have a chance to sweep a series, as an error and a stumbling bullpen cost them a chance to beat Arizona last night.

Manager Derek Shelton liked starter Bryse Wilson’s outing as he came off the injured list to make the start and threw five shutout innings.
Shelton was happy with the series win but acknowledged that a sweep would have been great.
The Cardinals come to town to start a four-game series tonight. It’s a 6:40 airtime on WCCS. Mitch Keller pitches for the Bucs in a rematch of last Friday’s matchup with the Cardinals’ Miles Mikolas. Keller went five shutout innings in the Bucs’ 4-0 win.
To make room on the roster for Bryse Wilson to return from the injured list, the Pirates put Tuesday’s starter, JT Brubaker on the list. He suffered a thumb contusion while batting in the second inning but still threw five scoreless. He will miss his next start.
Director of sports medicine Todd Tomczyk said yesterday that top draft choice Henry Davis is on the seven-day injured list with a right oblique strain, and said typically, that type of injury takes about 28 days to heal completely. That means Davis’ season might be over. The rookie has been impressive since his promotion to High-A Greensboro. He hit .308 with two doubles, a triple, and three home runs in only 26 at-bats over eight games.
