IUP has scheduled a series of open forums for its Long Range Facilities Master Plan for this Tuesday, and another open forum on Wednesday to discuss the long-rang academic restructuring plan.
Four forums will be held Tuesday to discuss facilities. There will be two forums for faculty and staff in the Blue Room at Sutton Hall, from 9 AM to 10 AM and from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM. An open forum for community members will be held in the PNC Room at the KCAC from 5 to 6 PM, and a forum for students will take place in the Great Room of Elkin Hall at 7 PM, in conjunction with the regular meeting of the Student Government Association.
At a meeting in January, consultant SmithGroup LLC recommended the demolition of four more buildings: Ackerman, Davis, Elkin, and Whitmyre Halls. A 26-month, $4.6 million renovation of Whitmyre was just completed in 2019.
Demolition is already underway on Pratt, Eicher, and Weyandt Halls, the University Towers, the Reschini House, and the R&P Office Building.
The academic restructuring meeting is scheduled for Wednesday from 11:30 AM to 12:30 PM m the Cejka Planetarium at Kopchick Hall.
