Applications are being accepted for the federal Fire Prevention and Safety Grant and the Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response, or “SAFER” grant.
According to a statement from State Senator Joe Pittman, the Fire Prevention and Safety Grant supports projects that enhance the safety of the public and firefighters from fire and related hazards. The main goal of the grant is to reduce injuries and prevent death among high-risk populations. The “SAFER” grant provides funding directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations to help increase and retain the number of trained, front-line firefighters available. This will help the departments comply with staffing, response and operational standards.
The Federal Emergency Management Agency is offering webinars to assist in the application process. A schedule has been posted on their website, along with more information on how to apply is on their website.
