Two men were charged in connection with a drug bust and theft investigation in East Wheatfield Township on August 5th. State police were called out to assist Cambria County’s probation department for an investigation at a home on 3rd Avenue at 11:23 AM on the 5th. At the home were 42-year-old Eric Stiffler of Seward and 37-year-old Heather Stiffler of Johnstown, along with a 12-gauge sawed-off shotgun that was reported stolen out of Cambria County in December of 2014. Drugs and drug paraphernalia were also found inside the home. Charges were filed with District Judge Robert Bell’s office.
A home in East Wheatfield Township was reportedly burglarized over the weekend. State police were called Monday afternoon to investigate the burglary of a home along Route 403 South. It was determined that between 10 PM on August 22nd and 2 PM the following day, the burglar pushed open a locked basement door, breaking the door jamb. The thief was able to make off with a concrete chop saw. The thief’s identity remains unknown at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call state police at 724-357-1960.
State police are continuing to investigate a burglary that happened in late July in Young Township. Troopers say that at 4:00 PM on July 24th, officers were dispatched for a reported burglary. The victim, identified only as a 36-year-old Saltsburg man, said that someone was able to break into his home and steal $750 in cash.
A woman was scammed out of virtual currency on Friday. State police report that 54-year-old Lara Brown of New Florence reported to police that on August 20th, she was scammed out of $1,000 worth of bitcoin by an unknown individual.
