The Steelers did not report any major injuries after Saturday’s win over Detroit in the third preseason game of the year, and they’ll be protecting their best players as much as possible this Friday when they close out the exhibition schedule at Carolina.
They will be at least five players down by that point, as the league mandates that they reduce the roster by five guys by tomorrow.
The most notable absences from the lineup on Saturday night were linebacker TJ Watt and defensive end Stephon Tuitt, who have not yet practiced with their teammates during training camp.
Ben Roethlisberger had a good night in his preseason debut. He was 8-of-10 passing for 137 yards and two touchdowns to rookie tight end Pat Freiermuth. Big Ben says it felt great to get in some game action, even if it will be his last before the regular season begins on September 12th.
Friday’s game at Carolina will not be on the radio because it will be the start of the high school football season, and Indiana will be playing Ligonier Valley at Andy Kuzneski Field on WDAD, FM 100.3 and AM 1450.
