The Bucs will have the services of righty Chad Kuhl, but he will be put in a new position.
Pirates manager Derek Shelton said that Kuhl will now pitch out of the bullpen as he works his way back up to the starter’s rotation. Kuhl had been out since August 2nd after testing positive for Covid-19.
To make room for him on the roster, the Pirates optioned right-hander Cody Ponce to Triple-A Indianapolis. In eight appearances, Ponce was 0-3 with an 8.34 ERA.
