Purchase Line took third place among boys’ teams and United finished second among girls’ teams at the United Invitational track and field meet yesterday at United High School in Armagh.
The Red Dragons were powered by their distance runners, who gained 32 of the team’s 60 points. Micah Kurka won the 1,600 meter run, Nathan Moore won the 800 meter run and Alex Moore took third in the 3,200 meter run to secure 26 of those points.
In the girls’ competition, United dominated in the hurdles with 32 points. Michaela Bracken repeated as the 100 meter hurdles and 300 meter hurdles champion, while Emma Arblaster pulled in another eight points with a second-place finish in the 100 meter hurdles.
Ryleigh Ludwig added 20 more points for United with victories in the 1,600 and 3,200 meter runs.
Derry captured both the boys’ and girls’ championships.
