A beloved companion and longtime community hero has passed away.
In a Facebook post, Homer City Police Chief Anthony Jellison announced that Thor died unexpectedly at his home Wednesday, just 26 days after retiring from the force. He was 11 years old.
Thor’s career with the Homer City Police Department began in 2014 and he responded to more than 200 calls that spanned from routine patrols to tracking and uncovering narcotics.
Jellison said Thor was one of the most well-traveled K-9 officer, having been to places like the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone National Park, and Mount Rushmore. He adds he was the “happiest dog at work” and the “bestest boy at home.”
