Curve starter Trey McGough set a new career-high with seven innings pitched as he and reliever Cam Alldred helped Altoona beat the Somerset Patriots, 5-0, last night.
McGough struck out three hitters and let up just four hits to the Patriots’ offense, and Alldred didn’t allow a hit over the final two innings of the game.
Ji-hwan Bae opened the night’s scoring in the third with an RBI single. Cal Mitchell added two insurance runs with his 12th home run in the following inning.
Matt Fraizer collected another multi-hit game for Altoona, going 2-for-4 with a double and a triple. Bae and Mitchell also finished the game with two hits.
The Curve take a two-games-to-one series lead over the Patriots. They look to extend that lead tonight as both teams return to PNG Field.
Osvaldo Bido (2-5, 5.20 ERA) will start for the Curve. First pitch is 7 p.m.
