After Somerset took a commanding 9-1 win against the Curve Tuesday night, Altoona bounced back to win in walk-off fashion last night at PNG Field.
The Curve trailed 5-4 heading into the bottom of the ninth, but outfielder Daniel Amaral drove himself and Cal Mitchell in on a walk-off two-run home run to left. Diego Castillo also homered in the game, marking his 16th blast of the year.
Jeff Passantino started the game for the Curve but earned a no-decision. He gave up three earned runs over five innings of work. Noe Toribio and Christofer Melendez combined to throw four innings of relief, and the pair allowed just one earned run over that time with Melendez earning the win.
The Curve and Patriots are back at it tonight in Altoona with Johnstown-native Trey McGough (3-3, 3.84 ERA) tabbed to start. First pitch is 6:30 p.m.
