First responders were busy as Tropical Rainstorm Fred came through our area.
Indiana County 911 responded to five calls of utility lines going down. Four of those calls were in Indiana County. The first was at 11:27 AM on Route 259 in West Wheatfield Township, with Bolivar and Clyde fire departments called out for that incident. The next was in Shelocta Borough at 3:08 PM along Main Street. Elderton District Volunteer Department was dispatched at the time. About an hour later at 4:06 PM, Iselin fire crews were dispatched to Blackleggs Road for a report of lines down, and at 6:09 PM, Indiana Fire Company 3 was called out to Laurel Road in Armstrong Township. Also, Blairsville Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched for a lines-down call on Deep Hollow Road in Derry Township, Westmoreland County.
Two vehicle accidents were also reported yesterday. At 2:37 PM, Indiana Firefighters, State Police and Citizens’ Ambulance were dispatched to Wayne Avenue in White Township for a crash. The other was reported at 3:03 PM, with Cherryhill and Pine Township fire departments, Citizens’ Ambulance and Cherry Tree police dispatched to Route 422 East in Pine Township.
