After news broke during Thursday night’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles, it was announced yesterday that the Steelers will be sending a sixth-round draft pick to the Jacksonville Jaguars in exchange for defensive back Joe Schobert.
NFL insider Ian Rapoport broke the details of the trade around 5:30 p.m. yesterday. The former Browns and Jaguars linebacker is due $7.3 million this season. No word yet on if the Steelers will be responsible for handling the remainder of his salary.
After a notable performance against the Eagles on Thursday, the Steelers announced that quarterback Dwayne Haskins Jr. was named as the team’s Player of the Week.
Haskins was 16-22 with 161 passing yards and a touchdown in the Steelers’ 24-16 win over the Eagles.
The former first-round pick said that he’s just having fun out on the field and it helps him get into a rhythm.
While Haskins has seen most of his playing time with the second-team offense, he said that they’re learning well as a group.
The Steelers will face the Detroit Lions next Saturday at Heinz Field.
