UPDATE: Mark Juart’s sentencing hearing was continued to May 6th at the request of the defense attorney.
Charles Peach was ordered to serve five years of probation, including four months of house arrest.
WHAT WE FIRST REPORTED
Two sentencing hearings are on the schedule today for Indiana County’s Court of Common Pleas, with one of them for a man who pleaded guilty to a charge of sexually assault of someone under 13.
Court documents show that 37-year-old Mark Allen Juart is due before Indiana County Judge Michael Clark this morning. He pleaded guilty to the sexual assault charge on November 21st of last year, while a charge of harassment was not prosecuted as part of the plea deal. The charge stemmed from an investigation conducted by the State Police Troop A Criminal Investigation Unit, in which authorities reported multiple incidents of indecent assault against a female juvenile at a home in White Township between January 1st of 2022 and March 19th of last year. Troopers eventually found him in early August living in a truck in Armstrong County and using an assumed name.
Also due for sentencing today is 70-year-old Charles William Peach of Blairsville. He pleaded guilty to making terroristic threats, simple assault, possession of an instrument of crime and retaliation against a witness for an incident on June 27th of last year. Charges of harassment and disorderly conduct-engaging in fighting were not prosecuted.
