At Thursday night’s meeting, the Homer-Center School Board approved the adoption of a new policy concerning searches.
The policy passed by a vote of 7-2 with E’milie Ayers and Misty Hunt voting against the policy. Hunt said that she was against the policy because she wanted to see if it was possible to have parents involved in search requests for cell phones and cars.
Fellow board member Gerald Bertig, who voted in favor of the policy said the policy just codified current practice.
The board also approved dismissing classes early on April 8th, the day of the solar eclipse, as normal dismissals would take place during the peak eclipse time. The school will go to a condensed day, with high school dismissing at 12:30 PM, and the elementary school dismissing at 1:20 PM.
