The Boston Red Sox scored six runs in the first inning and went on to defeat the Pirates, 9-2, Tuesday night in Grapefruit League action.
Drew Hutchison gave up the big first inning and all of Boston’s runs in 3.2 innings of work. Pirates relievers held Boston to just two hits the rest of the way.
José Osuna continued his hot hitting for the Bucs with two hits and raised his spring average to .440.
