The Steelers are headed back to training camp today at Heinz Field after their win over the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday during the Hall of Fame game.
But on top of practice today, fans will be looking at fourth-year wide receiver James Washington, who has requested a trade. ESPN’s Adam Schefter said that the former 2nd round draft pick said he wanted the trade because he felt he was limited in playing time last season and at the start of this preseason. Washington was not on the first-team offense during Thursday night’s game. He is going into the final year of his rookie contract, and is due $1.093 million in salary with a $1.432 million cap hit.
If he is traded or released, the Steelers would absorb a “dead money” charge of $338,428.
