On Tuesday, the Homer City Borough Council approved the new burning ordinance.
The ordinance would ban burning in the borough outside of campfires or cooking fires. Plastic, rubber, leaves and grass would not be allowed. Those wanting to burn brush would have to apply for a permit. Council member Matt Black said that one of the reasons why the ordinance will help the borough is that it will help with air quality.
In other business, Homer City Borough Council welcomed Citizens’ Ambulance as they continued their visits with borough and township governments to get more funding to help with their operations. Black said that Homer City Borough Council is willing to partner with Citizens’ on a donation, but how much has not been decided yet.
