The IUP women will take the court at Fairmont State tonight to begin its journey in the Division II NCAA Atlantic Regional. 21-7 IUP will take on 27-2 Fayetteville State, out of North Carolina, in a split-site regional. Second seed Fairmont State will play number 7 West Chester in the first game at 5 o’clock, followed by number 6 IUP and number 3 Fayetteville State at 7:30.
IUP coach Craig Carey says his team is ready to tackle what for many of them is a new experience.
Carey says Fayetteville State plays a tough zone defense and while they’re not a great shooting team, they can score points.
Tonight’s broadcast begins at 7 o’clock on 92.5 FM U92.
The other games in the Atlantic Regional are being played in Erie, the home of top seeded Gannon. Number 4 Lock haven plays number 5 Cal U in the first game, followed by Gannon against number 8 West Virginia State.
