Several fire departments were summoned to a fire Thursday afternoon in Center Township that destroyed a building and killed some livestock.
Indiana County 911 dispatched firefighters from Indiana, Homer City, Coral-Graceton and Aultman, along with the RIT Team and Citizens Ambulance to a home along Brown Road around 12:45 for a fire at an agricultural pole shed that housed some pigs and equipment.
Lee Thompson with the Indiana Fire Association said the homeowners were able to save one pig from the fire.
No cause for the fire was determined, but crews were able to control the blaze within 40 minutes. Thompson adds the shed is a total loss and the dry and warm conditions were not a factor.
