The Saltsburg boys’ basketball team advanced to the second round of the PIAA Class A playoffs with a 63-57 victory over Vincentian Academy on Friday night at Central Cambria High School.
Dan Shirley led the Trojans with 19 points and Jordan Booth added 15 for Saltsburg.
Saltburg will play Johnsonburg, the second seed out of District 9, in the next round Tuesday at a time and venue to be announced. We’ll announce plans to broadcast the game soon.
The Blairsville girls’ came up a point short on a free throw with four seconds left and lost to Camp Hill, 54-53, in the PIAA Class AA first round at Hershey High School.
Blairsville trailed by double figures twice and nine points once to the bigger Camp Hill girls. Blairsville outscored Camp Hill, 27-21, in the second half.
Rena Enterline scored 22 points to lead Blairsville. Sidney McCully scored 12 and Catherine Martin scored 10.
