The Heritage Conference hosted its annual Impromptu Speech competition Monday at Northern Cambria, and for the second consecutive year, it was Conemaugh Valley who took home first prize.
The team of Kai Wills, Casandra Skebek, Olivia Brainard, and Riley Richards combined for 319 points, with Skebek and Richards being named team MVPs.
Advisor Keli Williams said her team was ready to repeat as champions this year and she helped prepare them through learning about current events.
Teams were asked to speak from prompts that covered a multitude of topics, such as tipping culture in America, Shaquille O’Neal’s quote “Excellence is a Habit,” and the pros and cons of using Artificial Intelligence in writing.
West Shamokin followed Conemaugh Valley with 314 points, while Cambria Heights came in third with 299 points.
