The Pirates yesterday reduced the number of players in big league camp to 55 with the reassignment of catcher Abrahan Gutierrez and pitchers Ben Heller and Michael Plassmeyer to minor league camp.
Closer David Bednar threw for a second straight day yesterday and manager Derek Shelton said he felt good as he works his way back from right lat tightness in his back.
