A Cherry Tree man was seriously injured Friday morning in a crash on Shawna Road, about a half-mile off Main Street in Cherry Tree.
State police say it happened at about 5:50 AM when 47-year-old Jeremy Smith’s vehicle left the road on a left-hand curve. Smith over-compensated and fishtailed back onto the road, but could not get control, exiting off the other side of the road and traveling about 60 feet before hitting a sign. The vehicle then went airborne for about 25 feet, impacting an embankment and rolling onto its roof.
Cherry Tree firefighters had to extricate Smith from the vehicle. He was flown to UPMC Altoona with severe injuries.
