IUP announced this afternoon that, effective today, the university is removing indoor mask mandates for vaccinated individuals.
In a statement, IUP said that the decision is based off conditions in Indiana County and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control, however unvaccinated individuals are still recommended to wear masks indoors, as per CDC guidelines. Students, university personnel and visitors can still choose to wear masks inside, even if they are vaccinated, if they choose to do so.
Other COVID-19 policies for IUP that go into effect today include:
- Lifting the requirement for social distancing on campus.
- Masking is not required outdoors for anyone.
- Masking at the IUP Health Center is still required for ALL individuals.
IUP announced in June that the university plans to return to full face-to-face instruction for the 2021-22 school year. To read more about changes in IUP’s mitigation efforts can be found within the official statement. A link to that can be found here.
