A preliminary hearing is set for today for an Apollo man charged in connection with an incident in Saltsburg on May 27th.
The hearing for 25-year-old Austin Thomas Hopkins will be held today at 10:00 in front of district judge Robert Bell Sr. Police say that he was involved in an altercation with his brother when he picked up a knife and chased his brother into the street. Police said that the victim had a minor injury following the altercation. Hopkins was found in a nearby home and he was arrested without incident. Police also found a fully-loaded 12-gauge shotgun wrapped in a black hooded sweatshirt along with other items. It was later discovered that Hopkins was not allowed to possess a firearm.
Hopkins is charged with felony prohibited possession of a firearm, misdemeanor simple assault and terroristic threats, and summary harassment.
