The Pirates broke out the lumber in a 12-8 win over the Tampa Bay Rays yesterday in Bradenton.
Bryan Reynolds and Jared Triolo each hit home runs that sailed over the pavilion in left field to give the Pirates the lead, then Gilberto Celestino, a non-roster invitee, created separation in the seventh with a grand slam. Triolo finished the day with three RBI.
Mitch Keller allowed three runs on four hits in just two innings of work.

Former Pirates closer Felipe Rivero (Vazquez) signed a contract to play baseball for the Sailors of Carabobo in Venezuela. He was extradited back to Venezuela after spending time in Westmoreland County Jail for sexual assault charges stemming from an incident in 2019. In three-and-a-half seasons with the Pirates, he went 15-9 with a 2.17 ERA and 86 saves as the team’s closer.
