Penelec has released information about an outage that happened yesterday afternoon.
The nine-minute outage affected 1,569 Penelec customers, most of them in Indiana Borough, with outages also reported in White Township as well. Todd Meyers with Penelec said that a circuit breaker at their substation near Twolick Drive tripped open. The breaker was closed remotely and crews patrolled the area to make sure there wasn’t a tree or branch resting on it.
No official cause of the outage was reported. Meyers said that if a tree or branch fell off of it, which was possible due to the windy conditions, it could also have bounced off or cleared itself before crews arrived.
