The Penguins must submit their list of protected players to the league by Saturday ahead of the expansion draft next week.
The expansion draft for the Seattle Kraken is set for July 21st. Each team can protect seven forwards, three defensemen, and one goaltender; or they can protect eight total skaters and one goalie. All first- and second-year N-H-L players, and all unsigned draft picks, are exempt from the expansion draft.
Some names that have been rumored to either be protected by Pittsburgh or surrendered to the expansion draft are Jared McCann and Brandon Tanev.
