UPDATE:
Brush Valley fire chief Dick Altemus said that no injuries were reported in the house that was struck by a tree during yesterday’s series of storms.
While no one was injured, Altemus said that the home suffered water damage from the rainfall on top of damage caused by the tree. He adds that the family who lives at the home was not forced out as a result of all the damage and they are still living there.
WHAT WE ORIGINALLY REPORTED:
The severe weather that passed through our area yesterday caused a lot of damage and many outages across the county.
At its peak, 4,236 Penelec customers were without power in Indiana County, with the bulk of those outages in White, Green, Rayne, Canoe and Cherryhill Townships along with Clymer Borough. Over 4,500 of REA Cooperative’s members were without power across Indiana County Tuesday afternoon and evening. Many of those outages were storm-related with either power lines being blown down or forced down by falling trees.
Speaking of falling trees, Brush Valley Fire Department was busy with trees falling onto a nearby house and garage along Route 259. No word yet on if anyone was injured in that incident.
(Photos of the home can be seen in the original story).
