The Penguins lost to the Detroit Red Wings, 5-2, Sunday, ending Pittsburgh’s streak of games with one or more points at nine.
Steve Ott had a goal and and an assist, and Sidney Crosby scored his league-leading 32nd goal in the final period.
Pittsburgh (36-14-8), which was 6-0-3 in its previous nine games and went 2-1-1 in playing four games in six days, remains five points behind the Washington Capitals (85) for first place in the Metropolitan Division. The Penguins lost in regulation at home for the fourth time in 31 games this season (24-4-3).
The Penguins play at Carolina Tuesday night on U92.5 and U92.5 Sportschannel.
